At the risk of sounding like a proper wanker…. Ive ridden a shitload of bikes. For more than 20 years I have ridden and raced anything that had two wheels, from 30k “superbikes” to off the rack mid-tier frames. Every bike I have bought with my own money has been a tailor-made frame. Many of them ‘boutique’ but not necessarily (especially in the era where alloy frames were considered the best available). The tailor made compulsion comes from 17 years as a full time Bike Fitter – a career that few professionals in the bike industry can match. I know what works for me, and I like replicating it.
This gives me a perspective that revolves around the same position, with a variety of differences that are the maker’s mark. Comparison without every variable being changed.
Of all the bikes I have ever owned my Devlin Gravel bike is my absolute favourite. Set up more as an “All Road” for the fucked-up road conditions of country Queensland with Road sized gearing, and the capabilities to ride it on, into and around anything.
This morning I decided to point for a mountain in the distance I had never noticed before, where halfway there it turned to dirt. Not only was that no problem, but it was also fantastic. I got to explore and feel freedom like riding is supposed to feel. The ride was exactly what I needed, and the bike was exactly what I needed to get me there.
“There” was a place outside the pressures of my own head, going places that excite me and calm me down simultaneously.
I have never owned a bike that can do all that, and that is why I love the bike Sean built for me.

Absolutely Exceptional – A Dream Bike Built to Perfection
It was time to get a bike built just for me, and after reading about Devlin Bikes and Sean, I knew I’d found the right person. The entire experience—from the first conversation to picking up the finished product—was nothing short of amazing.Sean’s craftsmanship, attention to detail, and commitment to customisation are world-class. Throughout the build, we had great discussions, and I truly felt involved in the process. When I picked up the bike, it was an awesome feeling—like getting a piece of art made just for me. That first ride was exceptional, and every ride since has been a dream. The quality and service Sean provides are second to none. My bike has given me countless kilometres of pure enjoyment, and I know it’s built to last for decades to come.
Kind Regards

Probably the only purchase I’ve made worthy of being put on a stand in a show. I asked for something simple and “ordinary”, I didn’t want to participate in the road bike fashion or trend industry, I just wanted a plain old bike to ride. I ended up with a timeless masterpiece That was 7 years ago. Still love the thing, not hanging it on the wall for an art piece any time soon.
